The function room here at The Royal Oak is popular over the festive period for events including work functions, university society celebrations, and Christmas socials for various clubs and organisations. The room has a fully equipped bar with friendly staff to ensure your guests are served quickly and easily.

During December the room is available for private hire for parties expecting 50+ guests on Friday & Saturday, or for parties expecting 30+ guests Sunday - Thursday. The room opens out onto our shared garden terrace area, which is covered and has heat lamps for cooler nights.

UNDER-18's POLICY

Although the pub is licensed as an over 18's venue, through the rest of the year we are able to designate the function room as a private area and allow younger guests to attend pre booked functions.

Unforuntately due to how busy we can get over the festive season we are unable to allow under 18’s in the venue, even in the function room, as it proves difficult to for our managers and door staff to monitor and ensure our licensing conditions are met.

We emphasise the importance of asking anyone who is lucky enough to look under 25 years old to bring ID, as we have to be extra vigilant during this period and operate a strict Challenge 25 policy. IDs must be a physical copy, as screenshots on a phone screen will not be accepted as valid ID. We will not serve anyone that cannot show proof of age.

Any catering for your event must be provided by us.

We offer a popular 'one size fits all' seasonal buffet which can easily be adapted for vegetarian, vegan or gluten free dietary requirements.

You do not have to cater for the whole of your party if you feel that not all of your guests will be eating, but for private hire during December we do have a minimum requirement of 50 catered guests on Fridays & Saturdays, or 30 catered guests for Sunday/midweek bookings.
